Bloco Vivo

Bloco Vivo is a high-octane Calgary street band with a passion for the big, boisterous music of northeastern Brazil. A majority of the group met through the Calgary School of Samba, where they were introduced not only to Samba but other genres of Brazilian street music. Further studies at the annual California Brazil Camp led to the formation of Bloco Vivo in 2012. Playing a remarkable assortment of drums, shakers, bells and other percussion instruments, the band gets audiences up and moving, dancing to the beat of Maracatu, Samba Reggae, Timbalada and Funk.
