Viva Brasil has been in Winnipeg since 2002. Mestre Indio, originally from Recife, Brasil is the head of the group. The students learn the martial art called Capoeira, however in recent years the group branched out and created the Bateria group. This encouraged the students to begin to learn different instruments and dances traditional to Brazil. Viva Brasil has been performing throughout Canada and into the States. They have hosted the Brazilian Pavilion through Folklorama for the last 8 years and Cultural Mosaic in Regina. They have ranked as the top pavilion year over year. The group has performs for schools, parties, festivals, weddings and other corporate events. To learn more visit www.vivacapoeira.com.
